Dear Hans Anderson

Do not think my sister[Lily] and I very rude in writing to you.

We are little English girls, and want to thank you very much for your beautiful stories we have a large book of them and very aften read them. I like the "Little Match Girl" The Angel and the child and The story of your Life.

Mama has just read to us the account in Temple Bar - and we have laughed at the story of the carrots.

Would you cut me a little figure I will keep it for ever and prize it for your sake.

I wish you would come to England that we might see you, and then you would perhaps tell me a story.

I am dear Hans Anderson

Your little English friend

Mary Wood.

Maryon Road. February 23rd. Charlton
