J.C. Jacobsen the brewer (of Carlsberg) sends HCA 12 bottles of export beer and promises to keep him supplied during the winter, with stocks from his own cellar, until this beer is once more available for sale.

15 November

Opening performance in The Royal Theatre's new building. Andersen attends the performance sitting next to the composer Niels W. Gade.

December

A collection is taken up for the purchase of a statue of HCA to be placed in a park in the city (Kongens Have = The King's Garden).

24 December

Has dinner at the Melchiors', who also invite him to stay and enjoy the Christmas tree celebrations, but he had to go home.

31 December 1874
