Sorø 28 September 1855

My faithful and fatherly friend,

Now I have reached Sorø at last and today feel better than I have done for almost two weeks; when I left Glorup the day before yesterday I had such stomach trouble that I expected to have to stay the night in Nyborg, however, this did not happen, I reached the Ingemann family, who were happy to welcome me, bles s them, and as I have said, this morning I feel almost quite well, tomorrow evening, therefore, I shall take the coach from here and then expect to reach Copenhagen on Sunday with the train about noon; I do not take the morning train as I have to talk to Hartmann about Liden Kirsten, and I suppose he is still in Roskilde! - I am looking forward very much indeed to be together with all my dear ones in the home, may God let! me find them healthy and happy! - Indeed, on Sunday I dine with you, and the Lind family will be there and towards evening also Gusta [Augusta] Collin, the whole Drewsen family will be in the home! I am sure that I shall also find Jette well! - So Theodor is not with the Nielsen family for Sunday dinner? Give them all my love, little ones and big; I long for all of you with all my heart!

With filial devotion

H. C. Andersen

P. S.

If my ticket is to be renewed at the theatre, let dear Theodor do it, but then he must say to Berner that I want it as early as for Monday evening!
